1IN3's submission to the Inquiry into capturing data on family violence perpetrators in Victoria

The One in Three Campaign were contacted by the Legislative Assembly Legal and Social Issues Committee in Victoria and asked to write a submission to their Inquiry into capturing data on family violence perpetrators in Victoria.

Our submission is now available for download from the inquiry website at www.parliament.vic.gov.au/get-involved/inquiries/inquiry-into-capturing-data-on-family-violence-perpetrators-in-victoria/submissions (submission #60).

Here is an excerpt from our submission:

It is only blindness, either through ignorance or ideology, that is preventing a full picture of family violence perpetration to be captured in Victoria. Overcoming these blind spots starts by raising awareness of the indisputable evidence that females make up a significant proportion of perpetrators of family violence in Victoria. It continues by raising awareness that ideological biases, however well-intentioned, that ignore or minimise the experience of males as victims and females as perpetrators of family violence, are preventing us from understanding the complete picture of family violence, and as such, are preventing us from designing solutions that reduce the levels of family violence in the Victorian community.
