Male victims of domestic violence seek recognition

The World Today with Eleanor Hall is an hour of current affairs background and debate from Australia and the world every Monday to Friday, 12:10pm, ABC Local Radio and Radio National. The following story was broadcast on 19th November.

“Men as well as women are often victims of domestic violence. But now an attempt by men's health advocates to highlight the problem of male victims has sparked a dispute with female campaigners. A group of men's health experts is calling for domestic violence against men to be taken more seriously and for more services to be provided to help men who are assaulted. But a group attempting to reduce violence against women says the message about men is misleading and distracting.”
